The Campaign for National Parks (CNP) campaigns to protect and promote National Parks for the benefit and quiet enjoyment of all. It has developed and led the Mosaic project throughout the last eight years. It is an umbrella organisation, representing the interests of nearly 40 environmental and amenity groups across England and Wales, and it gives the voluntary sector a shared vision and voice on all National Park issues. The Broads Authority

The Norfolk and Suffolk Broads is Britain's largest protected wetland and third largest inland waterway, with the status of a national park. It's also home to some of the rarest plants and animals in the UK. The Broads Authority was set up in 1989, with responsibility for conservation, planning, recreation and waterways. Dartmoor National Park Authority

At 368 square miles (954 sq km) in area Dartmoor is the largest upland in southern Britain. Millions of people visit it each year for its dramatic landscapes, varied habitats and wildlife, and cultural heritage. There are some 17,500 protected archaeological remains dating from the bronze age, through the medieval period right up to a recent industrial past. Exmoor National Park Authority

Exmoor National Park covers 693sq.km approximately 1/3 in North Devon and 2/3 in West Somerset. The landscape is characterised by coastal heath and cliffs; ancient oak woodland; high moorland plateau; 'cultural' farmed landscape; traditional, sparsely populated settlements and tranquillity and a sense of 'openness and wildness' rare in southern England. Lake District National Park Authority

The Lake District National Park came into being on 15 August 1951. Covering 885 square miles, the Lake District National Park is the largest of England's National Parks. It includes one third of the county of Cumbria from Caldbeck in the north to Lindale in the south, from Ravenglass in the west to Shap in the east. The grandeur of its scenery was a major factor in bringing about statutory protection and recognition. New Forest National Park Authority

The New Forest National Park was created in March 2005. It is the eighth national park in England, the first in the south-east of England and the first to be created for nearly 50 years. Northumberland National Park Authority

Northumberland was designated as a National Park in 1956. Northumberland National Park is a tranquil place, whose dramatic hills and sheltered valleys stretch from Hadrian's Wall to the Scottish border. The National Park covers an area of 1049km, or 405 square miles and is the least populated of all the National Parks in England and Wales with a population of around 2000 people. That's only 2 people per square km. YHA

The first Youth Hostel was started 100 years ago and since then the idea has spread right around the world. The Youth Hostels Association has 87 youth hostels in the English and Welsh National Parks. Anyone can stay with YHA. Their accommodation and social spaces, and their tradition of sharing, offers everyone the chance to mix with and meet people from other communities and from around the world. Big Lottery Fund

The Big Lottery Fund is the largest distributor of Lottery money to good causes. They are responsible for giving out half the money raised by the National Lottery for good causes: 14 pence of every pound spent on a Lottery Ticket. The Big Lottery Funds gives close to £2 million in lottery good cause money every 24 hours, which together with other Lottery distributors means that across the UK most people are within a few miles of a Lottery-funded project.
